Under the auspices of the ISSMGE and TC16 Committee
on Ground Property Characterization by In-Situ Tests and organized by
the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Southeast Asian Geotechnical
Society (SEAGS), and Taiwan
Geotech Society (TGS), you are invited to prepare abstracts for papers
and proposed sessions at the third international conference on site characterization.
This will be an exciting conference and follows the 1998
ISC-1 (Atlanta) and 2004 ISC-2 (Porto) which have produced some excellent
proceedings. Our host will be Professor An-Bin Huang and we plan to have
an awesome affair in venue, technical, and social events.
Main theme: Lessons learned and future challenges
in site characterization for construction, geotechnical, and geoenvironmental
engineering projects.
Sub-Themes
1. In-situ testing methods, including cone penetration,
flat dilatometer, pressuremeter, vane, drilling/sampling, & other
recently developed techniques such as: seismic dilatometer, vibrocone,
flow penetrometers (T-Bar/ball) and dielectric probes.
2. Geophysical approaches, including ground penetrating
radar, resistivity, electromagnetic conductivity, crosshole, downhole,
& surface waves, tomography & time domain reflectometry.
3. Case studies utilizing one or more in-situ
& geophysical techniques in site characterization for geotechnical
and/or geo-environmental purposes, including foundations, pilings, tunnels,
earth dams & ground modifications. ABSTRACTS ARE DUE January
